Generalization Parent Training

Is parental stress a concern? This program focuses on providing parents individualized consultation to assist them in working with their child.

The EXCEL Parent training program is appropriate for any family who would like to increase their awareness of effective parenting strategies. Consultation focuses on development of skills and the reduction of behaviors that interfere with everyday functioning in order to promote increased independence and generalization of those behaviors into natural settings.

In this program a parent assessment of Behavior Analysis is also utilized to evaluate the effectiveness of consultation services. This tool helps guide services to ensure the parents gain the skills necessary to address their areas of concern.

Upon completion of an assessment, specific goals for the parent/caregiver and child are proposed.  Consultation occurs between the parent/caregiver and a Behavior Consultant from H.O.P.E. on a weekly basis, using a trainer to trainer model. 10-15 hours per month of services are provided.  During this time the Consultant will model Behavior Analytic principles while working directly with the parent/caregiver and child. The parent/caregiver is asked to work with their child throughout the week, implementing the principles and techniques discussed during consultation.
