Interpersonal Skills Program
(Center based social skills program)

Provides pre-adolescents and adolescents an opportunity to form successful, lasting, positive relationships with others.

The purpose of the Interpersonal Skills Program is to develop in its participants the basic skills necessary to form successful, lasting, positive relationships with others. This repertoire includes the ability to accurately identify the emotions of others and self, ask for, give, and receive information and/or feedback (both positive and negative), engage in positive problem solving, participate in equally balanced conversations, and identify and self-regulate when personal “triggers” to unacceptable behaviors are present.

This program is appropriate for individuals in their early to mid-adolescents (ages 8 - 16 years of age), who have social and interpersonal skill deficits that prevent them from developing relationships with peers and limits their interactions with adults, teachers, and other individuals in the community. Questions regarding necessary pre-requisite skills can be answered by H.O.P.E. Consulting staff or your Regional Center representative.

Participants are enrolled in a 12 week class, meeting once per week for one and a half hours. After an assessment is completed and objectives identified, participants are placed in groups based upon their age and social abilities.
